It is time to say hi to all of those who are enjoying summer holidays and amuse their eyes with beautiful Visigothic related stuff while looking at the nature/busy city/comfortable couch around. If you are, like me, enjoying the summery silence to work in peace, dear colleague, you should not be doing it (!).
This post is another compilation of the amazing creative stuff Visigothic script illuminators have dedicated to us. I am updating the online catalog of codices, so I am, at the same time, updating the previous Storify about initials for your amusement. The next post will be a bit longer, for those who need to return to work gradually.
This post is especially dedicated to the team behind the project Medieval Animal Data-Network (MAD) -you can follow them on Twitter-, because we all (working with medieval manuscripts) would love to have more medieval pets to pet while working.
The images are a mix of different manuscripts, mostly from the Archivo de la Real Academia de la Historia (Madrid), the British Library,
Paris – Bibliothèque nationale de France, Archivo de la Colegiata de San Isidoro de León, and Archivo del Real Monasterio de El Escorial.
